The momentum has continued for Clio Rally3, Clio Rally4 and Clio Rally5 in the heat of summer, with further successes on the European scene and in a host of championships around the world !

Clio Trophy Spain Tierra

The Clio Trophy Spain Tierra reached the halfway point of the season at Rallye Isla de los Volcanes. Jordi Nualart and co-driver Daniel Rivera dominated the field, which consisted entirely of Clio Rally5 cars, taking the lead right from the start on the fast and dusty special stages. Despite a puncture, the Brunet Competition crew then took advantage of a small mistake by Álvaro Santana and Juan Monzón to seal victory. The duo of Zósimo Hernández and Maite Gutiérrez completed the podium before the next round at Rally Princesa de Asturias (12-13 September).

FIA European Rally Championship & Czech Rally Championship

Clio Rally3 returned to the podium’s top step on the European scene at the Barum Czech Rally Zlín. With three stage wins, Hubert Kowalczyk and Jarosław Hryniuk took a comfortable victory on the asphalt stages, finishing 43.8s ahead of their closest ERC3 rivals. Already with two top-three results under their belts, the Polish duo is second in the general classification heading into the final two rounds of the season.

Barum also hosted the Czech championship, where Filip Ocelka and Tomáš Plachý’s Clio Rally4 finished fourth in RC4 I and in two-wheel drive to remain in contention for both titles. Lastly, Clio Rally5 won in RC5 with Jakub Kořínek and Petr Cibulka, who are now sure to win the class title thanks to their fifth consecutive win of the season.

Chilean Rally Championship

The gravel stages of the Copec RallyMobil Curicó saw Clio Rally4 finish on the podium with the Ecuadorian crew of Esteban Lopez and Adolfo Espinoza. The pair set the fastest time in SS5 before leading their Clio Rally4 to third place in RC4 and Rally4. As a result, Esteban Lopez moves up to fifth in the Rally4 general classification going into the final three rounds of the season.

Finnish Rally Championship

Clio Rally3 returned to the top of the order in Finland, with Ville Vatanen and Jarno Ottman winning the SM2 category at the Future SM Ralli. The crew set the fastest times on the first leg before controlling the pace to take victory and finish just off the overall podium. The duos of Shotaro Goto and Jussi Lindberg, and Takumi Matsushita and Pekka Kelander also placed Clio Rally3 in the overall top ten on the roads of Lahti. At the same time, Kanta Yanaguida and Ville Mannisenmäki finished runner-up in their Clio Rally4 in SM3.

German Rally Championship

Now unbeaten on the German national scene for more than two years, Clio Rally3 continued its winning streak at the ADAC Saarland-Pfalz Rally with another victory for Carsten Mohe and Andrea Lieber. The duo led a sweep of the top four places in RC3. Clio Rally4 also excelled with podium finishes in RC4 and two-wheel drive for Max Schumann and Ann Felke, who finished just outside the overall top ten.

Polish Rally Championship

A joint round of the FIA European Rally Trophy and FIA Central European Zone, the Rajd Rzeszowski saw the Clio Rally4 secure a podium finish in the two-wheel drive category on the Polish national scene with Sergiusz Janowski and Krzysztof Grzenia. Buoyed by this performance, the crew moves up to third place in the championship heading into the final two rounds of the season. Clio Rally3 also performed well with Artur Długosz and Paweł Pochroń, finishing fourth in RC3 on asphalt to extend their lead in CEZ2.

Swedish Rally Championship

Clio Rally4 claimed a podium place at the Snapphanerallyt, which hosted round five of the Swedish calendar. Simon Andersson made a triumphant return to the national competition with co-driver Julia Thulin, finishing runner-up in the Junior category and fifth in both the two-wheel drive and NRC2 categories in this event, which also counted towards the Nordic Championship.

Uruguayan Rally Championship

Having already won twice this season, Clio Rally5 secured another double podium finish at round five of the Uruguayan Rally Championship. Pablo Cuadrado and Mauricio Altez finished second on Rally de Tala, winning the RC4N class ahead of the other Clio Rally5 driven by Federico Quintela and Joaquín Varela. In total, seven Clio Rally5 crews finished in the top ten overall.

French Rally Cup

There were also several victories in France during the summer. Clio Rally3 finished third overall and first in its class with Fabrice Martin and Emma Collet at Rallye du Florival, where Clio Rally5 also won with Louis Gass and Alison Girard. The duos Antoine Bordagaray - Alan Autegarden and Sylvain Alanore - Flora Mercière secured the same double victory at the inaugural Rallye du Centre Bretagne as did Thomas Benier - Gaëlle Piat and Alex Florenson - Matthieu Pagnier at Rallye du Sel. Clio Rally5 also won at Rallye du Pays Saint-Affricain with Julien Toniutti and Guillaume Duplan.

And elsewhere…

Clio Rally3 scored another victory in Belgium with Jeroen Vanhoutte and Elien Verhaeghe in 3G at Rally van Staden. Meanwhile, Clio Rally5 shone in Denmark with a class victory for Kim and Tobias Abildgaard in round two of the Dansk Rally Sprint Cup West. The model also impressed in the Azores with victory in RC5 and a podium finish in two-wheel drive for Gustavo Silva and Jorge Henriques on the asphalt of the Santa Maria Rally (Portugal). Lastly, Clio Rally5 scored two more victories in Peru with Wilson Garay – Wilson Garay at Rally Pichari and Horacio Cánepa - Ricardo Figueroa at Rally Aco Concepción.
