Switzerland will be celebrating no fewer than three anniversaries at AIR14, the country’s biggest airshow : 100 years of the Swiss Air Force, 50 years of the Patrouille Suisse aerobatic display team and 25 years of the PC-7 TEAM, celebrations that will take place on the weekends of 30-31 August and 6-7 September at Payerne, in the canton of Vaud.

Before the pilots take off for this celebration of Swiss aviation, Renault will be presenting a limited-edition version of the Megane R.S. 275, which has been especially developed for the event. Thankfully for the airshow’s visitors, the pilots will not be the only ones feasting their eyes on this exclusive car.

Some say that flying is the most amazing experience known to man. It is, above all else, a technical challenge that involves state-of-the-art technology, reliability and precision on the one hand and concentration, discipline and know-how on the other. And with the Renault Megane R.S. 275 AIR14 set to star in Payerne, it would be no surprise to see one or two of the pilots casting an envious glance towards the ground. As the official sponsor and car partner of AIR14, Renault is launching a 50-car limited-edition of the sportiest of all Meganes, exclusively for the Swiss market. Dubbed the AIR14, it will go on sale at a price of €36,800.

Sporty and exclusive

The Megane R.S. 275 AIR 14 takes its design cues from the Megane R.S. 275 Trophy, and features all the attributes of this exceptional sports car : the Cup chassis with limited slip differential, titanium exhaust system and carbon muffler and, nestling under the bonnet, a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 275bhp.

On the outside the Megane R.S. 275 AIR14 sets itself apart from the crowd with its 19-inch standard red Speedline Turini lightweight alloys, shod with high-performance Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tyres.

While Renault Sport’s engineers have drawn on all their technical expertise, the car’s designers have striven to create a sporty and exclusive look, with the Megane R.S. 275 AIR14 coming in three colours : Pearl White, Starry Black and Cassiopeia Grey. The red F1-style front blade comes inscribed with the words “AIR 14”, which also feature on the rear wings.

The Megane R.S. 275 AIR14’s passenger compartment oozes high performance and is equipped with RECARO bucket seats upholstered in leather and Alcantara. Red topstitching on the front and rear seats further enhances the car’s exclusive appeal, while the Renault Sport logo adorns the front-seat headrests. Adding to the ambiance are a host of other sporty touches, including the Zamak gear knob and Alcantara-trimmed steering wheel and handbrake gaiter, which both feature bright red topstitching.

Further underscoring the unique nature of each of the 50 Megane R.S. 275 AIR14s is a numbered plaque behind the gearstick. Like we said, with so few of them having been made, and solely for the Swiss market too, it would be no surprise to see some of the pilots glancing down at the Megane R.S. 275 AIR14 when they take to the air.
