The Clio Cup joins the French Grand Prix !

As part of the Formula 1 French Grand Prix (June 21-23), Renault Sport Racing will organize a special event at Circuit Paul Ricard to the competitors entered in the Clio Cup.

During the F1 French Grand Prix weekend, Renault Sport Racing will organise a special rendez-vous for the drivers and teams contesting the national and regional Clio Cups. It is thus proposed to competitors entered in Clio Cup France, Italy, Spain, Asia, United Kingdom, Central Europe and the Middle East to enter for an Open Clio Cup, which will include a free-practice session. a qualifying session and two prestigious races on the French manufacturer’s home soil.

The Clio Cup, which will be in action in front of the best drivers in the world and international motor racing’s most prestigious categories with the FIA Formula 1 World Championship and the FIA Formula 2 and 3 Championships, will be the only non-open-wheel category on the bill during the 2019 French Grand Prix weekend.

Privileged partner of the Grand Prix de France since its return on the calendar, Groupe Renault had already renewed, for a second consecutive year, its support of one of the biggest sporting events in France as it celebrates the 40th anniversary of Renault’s first race win in the F1 World Championship.

This Clio Cup event completes a plan allied with several promotional components, such as the demonstration tour in several French cities from April 6 to May 12.

Heir to the single-make cups created by the launch of the R8 Gordini Cup in 1966, the Clio Cup has based its success on a simple recipe - performance, reliability and affordability - to offer particularly large grids prone to photo-finish battles !

As always, Renault Sport Racing will work to foster links between the fans and all the actors of this event so that everyone can enjoy an unforgettable experience.

Benoit Nogier, Renault Sport Racing Customer racing commercial director : “We are delighted to contribute to the ever-richer programme of the French Grand Prix and to be alongside our Formula 1 team during this weekend. This will let more fans watch intense and lively races and enjoy the accessibility that is part of the Clio Cup’s DNA. For our competitors, it will also be a unique event held in support of one of the biggest sporting events in the world. We cannot wait to see many of them challenge each other and demonstrate the extent of their talent and our motorsport savoir-faire.”
