Pouget and GPA Racing reclaim the Clio Cup Series titles

The Clio Cup Series season finale promised to be thrilling at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, with no fewer than 13 titles at stake, including the biggest one. Anthony Jurado (Rangoni Corse) and Alex Lancellotti (GPA Racing) shared the spoils at the “Temple of Speed,” but David Pouget did what was needed to secure his second Clio Cup Series title. The Frenchman then saw his GPA Racing team regain the team trophy on the final lap of the season.

More than 40 drivers were present for the ninth and final round of the calendar. On the famous Monza circuit, Italian team Rangoni Corse dominated free practice, first with Anthony Jurado, then Gabriele Torelli.

Race 1 : Jurado wins, Pouget champion

Anthony Jurado regained the advantage on Saturday in qualifying to start from pole position ahead of Nicky Taylor (GPA Racing) and Alexandre Finkelstein (GPA Racing). Title contenders David Pouget and Gaël Castelli (Milan Compétition) qualified fifth and ninth respectively.

Behind the pole sitter, the order was reshuffled at the start, and Loïc Labeda’s (GM Sport) retirement led to the first safety car period. Sixth on the gird and second at the restart, Francesco Pagano (ASD Scuderia Venanzo) immediately pressured Anthony Jurado and found an opening at the Variante della Roggia before a second safety car period was needed to remove Horn’s Clio Cup (GPA Racing).

Francesco Pagano controlled the second restart, but Anthony Jurado took advantage of his slipstream to attack at the entrance to the Parabolica. Alexandre Finkelstein seized the opportunity to take the lead, but Anthony Jurado and Gabriele Torelli overtook him on the following straight. Further back in the field, the positions changed constantly until the return of the safety car, following an incident involving Andrea Chierichetti (MC Motortecnica) and Vladimir Lobachev (AST Competition).

Despite attacks from his pursuers, Anthony Jurado held on for the win ahead of his countryman Alexandre Finkelstein. Initially third, Gabriele Torelli was penalised for contact with Nicolas Milan (Milan Compétition). Gaël Castelli was promoted to the podium, ahead of Junior Nicky Taylor and David Pouget, who scored enough points to clinch the title. Just behind him, Thomas Compain (Power Racing) beat Mauro Polderman (AST Compétition) by 0.001s. Challenger Alex Lancellotti finished eighth, whilst Stephan Polderman (AST Compétition) was first among the Gentlemen.

Race 2 : The last one for Lancellotti, GPA Racing clinches the title

David Pouget celebrated his title on Sunday by snatching the last pole position of the season from Nicky Taylor, who received a two-place grid drop for failing to return directly to the pitlane during one of the three red flag stoppages.

Following the first lap behind the safety car, David Pouget held off Gabriele Torelli under the watchful eyes of his teammates Alex Lancellotti, Alexandre Finkelstein and Nicky Taylor. After a neutralisation caused by contact between Daire Flock (Westbourne Motorsport) and Francesco Pagano, Alex Lancellotti and Alexandre Finkelstein took advantage of the slipstream to move to the sharp end of the order. Gabriele Torelli followed suit and slotted in between them before the safety car returned to the track after Gaël Rostant (GPA Racing) went off.

The restart was short-lived, but Alexandre Finkelstein snatched second place back from Gabriele Torelli in a crucial duel for the team title between GPA Racing and Rangoni Corse. Everything was about to change in the final two laps of the season. Alex Lancellotti kept the lead, but the battle behind him intensified. Contact from Gabriele Torelli sent Alexandre Finkelstein onto his roof at the Parabolica, then the Italian and David Pouget overtook Alex Lancellotti at the start of the first corner. After two collisions, a third caused David Pouget to spin and Gabriele Torelli to suffer a puncture, for which he was later penalised.

Alex Lancellotti then reclaimedthe lead and held off Nicky Taylor to claim his maiden Clio Cup Series win. His British teammate won the Junior category ahead of Thomas Compain, who also finished on the overall podium for the first time. Loïc Labéda (GM Sport) avoided the hazards to take fourth place, ahead of David Pouget and Nicolas Milan. Sam Gornall (Westbourne Motorsport) finished seventh, followed by Gaël Castelli, Louis Gehin (Rangoni Corse) and Mauro Polderman. Laurent Dziadus (Team Lucas) finished first in the Gentleman category.

Clio Cup Series

David Pouget arrived at Monza needing just one point to reclaim the European title, and he did more than enough on Saturday, finishing fourth behind Anthony Jurado, Alexandre Finkelstein and Gaël Castelli. The Albi native also saw his GPA Racing team take back the crown from Rangoni Corse in this dramatic final race. Already crowned in the Gentlemen category, Laurent Dziadus ended his campaign by sharing the honours with his closest rival, Stephan Polderman. Lastly, Alex Lancellotti and Thomas Compain won twice in their respective categories. Mauro Polderman, however, won the Juniors category title ahead of Damiano Puccetti (Rangoni Corse), as did Filip Kunčer (Milan Compétition) against Ben Colburn (Westbourne Motorsport) in the Challengers category.

Clio Cup España

Dethroned by David Pouget in the Clio Cup Series, Gabriele Torelli could comfort himself in the Clio Cup España. Despite victories for Nicolas Milan and Loïc Labéda, the Italian maintained a sufficient lead to take the title and become the first driver to have won all the regional groups : Italia (2022), Mid-Europe (2023), France (2024), Series (2024) and España (2025). In the Challengers class, Loïc Labéda was crowned on Saturday before securing his seventh victory in the category and his second overall of the season.

Clio Cup Italia

Already crowned in several one-make cups, Gaël Castelli added another title to his impressive collection by winning the Clio Cup Italia ahead of rival Alex Lancellotti, who took the Challengers category title for the second consecutive year. In the Juniors category, the successes of Francesco Pagano and Ronnie Stefani (Rangoni Corse) did not prevent Damiano Puccetti from taking the crown. Lastly, Stephan Polderman won the Gentlemen title after a weekend in which he and Navajo (MC Motortecnica) shared the spoils.

Clio Cup Mid-Europe

Race one winner Alexandre Finkelstein clinched his maiden title in Clio before the season finale. Nicky Taylor secured his first Clio Cup Mid-Europe victory on Sunday to finish second in the general classification. However, his success was not enough to deprive Sam Gornall of the Juniors title. Filip Kunčer, who scored a double victory in his category, was crowned Challenger champion on Saturday before repeating the feat on the continental scene the following day.

The Clio Cup Series now enters its winter break and looks ahead to the 2026 season, the calendar for which will be announced in the near future.
