Presentation of the 2018 Punta del Este ePrix

The Renault e.dams team is looking forward to racing on the atypical Punta del Este circuit in Uruguay again in the sixth round of the 2017-2018 FIA Formula E Championship.

The Punta del Este seaside resort hosted two rounds of the Formula E championship in the first two seasons. It is back on the calendar for the third time for the sixth round of season 4. The French team is returning the Uruguayan city under the best possible auspices as Sébastien Buemi won the first two races held here. The 2,785-km track is laid out on the picturesque Playa Brava and runs in an anti-clockwise direction along the sea front. It has 20 corners, and is similar to the track used in season 2. It is a high-speed circuit with several tight, rapid chicanes.

Renault has a 21.3% share of the country’s market, in particular in the SUV sector where its biggest sellers are the Duster, the Captur and the Stepway. The Koleos will go on sale in a few months. The group is the leader in the electric market. UTE, the public energy company in Uruguay, has the biggest electric fleet in South America.

Sébastien Buemi
“I’m very happy to be back in Punta del Este where I won the two races that took place here, so we have very good memories of this city. I hope that we’ll continue in the same vein and extend our three podium finishes on the bounce. I’m going to be fighting for victory even if the competition is very close. I’ll give it everything !”

Nicolas Prost
“I’ve had a difficult and frustrating start to the season, but I’m still very motivated and I’ve got every confidence in my ability to bounce back and fight at the front. I’m hoping to score a good result on Saturday on a circuit that suits us where I finished fifth in the last event here.”
