Castrol partners with Renault Sport Racing’s customer racing activities

Renault Sport Racing and Castrol announced today a new partnership that will see the oil, fluid and lubricant brand from the international energy group BP support the French manufacturer’s customer racing activities for the next five years.

Castrol and Renault Sport Racing formalised this agreement linked to customer racing during an event held on 27 January at the Atelier Renault on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.

Running through 2024, this long-term technical and commercial collaboration will give all Renault Sport Racing customer racing activities access to Castrol’s unique expertise, cutting-edge technologies and high-performance lubricants.

Castrol will benefit from significant exposure in the categories promoted by Renault Sport Racing, which will include the Clio Cup France, Clio Trophy France and Formula Renault Eurocup, as well as Clio Cup Italia, Spain, UK and Central Europe.

The Castrol logos will appear on the communication platforms of the different categories, the Renault Sport Racing staff kits as well as the competing cars and driver and crew racing suits. Castrol will also enjoy strong on-track visibility at the majority of Formula Renault Eurocup meetings.

On a wider scale, this agreement reflects Groupe Renault’s global strategy, whose partnership with Castrol has been significantly strengthened since the first collaboration in Formula 1 in 2017.

As the official lubricant supplier of the Enstone technical centre and Viry-Châtillon engine operations base, Castrol also supports Renault F1 Team on-track activities. Groupe Renault has also selected Castrol as its aftersales’ global service fill engine oil lubricants partner so that Renault customers and dealerships can benefit from the best of two brands pushing the technological limits on the tracks, stages and roads. The two entities are also working together to develop advanced mobility solutions to explore future opportunities and meet the challenges in this rapidly evolving market.

With the new agreement, Renault Sport Racing and Castrol will further strengthen their commercial and marketing links in order to bring their respective networks closer together in the customer racing markets, using motorsport as a communication vehicle to address a wider audience.

Cyril Abiteboul, Renault Sport Racing Managing Director : "We are extremely happy to begin a new chapter of our relationship with Castrol. Castrol is an industry leader in its field with a rich heritage in motor racing and feeder series. A partnership of this scale and length underlines the desire to write a common history just as New Clio is about to take on the stage. It also shows the attractiveness of our customer racing activities in the eyes of major players in the sport and the industry. We are proud to be able to count on a partner of such renown and expertise and we look forward to seeing our teams take up the challenges and explore the opportunities arising."

Ben Russell, Castrol Senior Global Account Director : "We are delighted to be building on our strategic partnership with Renault and extending it further with the Customer Racing Series. Renault Customer Racing allows us to showcase the performance and capabilities of standard production technology of both Castrol lubricants and Renault vehicles. We’re offering the high performance lubricant technology we use today, in Renault Sport Racing to Groupe Renault’s customers, through our aftersales’ service fill partnership, and a jointly branded range of exclusive lubricant products available across Renault’s dealerships. We look forward to an exciting future together."
