Top Gear test drives the Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R
Back in 2008 Top Gear expressed its love for the Megane R26.R. Six years on, the media world’s best-known test-drive team has got to grips with the Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R. And the verdict is every bit as effusive.
TopGear.com put the Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R to the test just a few weeks after its Nordschleife lap record of 7:54.36. British motorists will soon be able to drive this “Radicale” version for themselves, with 30 of the cars shortly to be delivered to the UK.
“Every sensation and each bit of feedback is so genuine. Even the theatrics of the titanium exhaust ; its snaps, crackles and pops come with a wonderful irregularity, proving they’re real mechanical reactions, not some manufactured-in marketing tools.
In an era where paddleshifts and heaps of electronics reign supreme, this is evidence that, done properly, a manual transmission and a proper diff are still the most direct route to thrills.”
