The Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and the Renault Sport Trophy put on an action-packed show at the mid-season meeting in Austria
For the second time this year the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and the Renault Sport Trophy raced on the same circuit, the Red Bull Ring. In Austria, the spectators saw some thrilling battles in both categories while enjoying the Renault exhibition in the Village. Out on the track, Lando Norris and Harrison Scott shared the spoils in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0. Markus Palttala, Fabian Schiller, Pieter Schothorst and Fran Rueda emerged victorious in the Renault Sport Trophy.
Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 : British drivers come out on top
Jehan Daruvala (Josef Kaufmann Racing) was the quickest in free practice, but his team-mate Lando Norris (Josef Kaufmann Racing) turned the tables on him in qualifying. The leader in the overall classification won Saturday’s race after an exciting duel with his closest rival Max Defourny (R-ace GP). Ferdinand Habsburg (Fortec Motorsports) completed the podium in front of his home crowd. On Sunday, Harrison Scott (AVF by Adrián Vallés) had a perfect day taking first place in front of Defourny and Norris.
So, just before the summer break, Norris has slightly increased his lead in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 over his two main rivals this weekend. Although Dorian Boccolacci (Tech 1 Racing) was not on the podium in Austria he has not lost contact with the top 3. Sixteen drivers can still dream of winning the title with only six more races to go.
