NEW CHALLENGE IN MONZA FOR FORMULA RENAULT 2.0 ALPS
The 2015 season of Formula Renault 2.0 ALPS is about to enter in its crucial stages. The Monza circuit will host this week the fifth season’s venue out of the seven scheduled. This event will follow the ones in Imola, Pau, Red Bull Ring and Spa-Francorchamps.
The Anglo/Korean Jack Aitken, racing with Koiranen GP is the current leader scoring four wins so far. Seven points behind there is his team-mate Jake Hughes. Watch out though also for Matevos Isaakyan who impressed in Belgium where he managed a P1 and a P2. The JD Motorsport Russian driver is only 20 points behind the leader and chased by the Austrian Stefan Riener, him too racing with Koiranen GP which will also field the German Philip Hamprecht and the Brazilian Bruno Baptista.
Stakes are rising for Thiago Vivacqua, Isaakyan’s team-mate and currently fifth overall. The Italian team Cram Motorsport will be at its home track and as usual will count on the Russian Vasily Romanov (who scored in the Austrian round his first ever podium finish), on the Italian-Swiss Matteo Ferrer and the American Travis Jordan Fischer. High expectations in Monza also for the other Italian teams like BVM Racing, fielding the Ukrainian Danylo Pronenko, and GSK Grand Prix, which will have two cars one for the Russian Denis Bulatov and the other for the local Daniele Cazzaniga.
The Australian James Allen will also join the round with Arta Engineering, while Fortec Motorsports will be back with the Indian Jehan Daruvala and the Austrian Ferdinand Habsburg.
Friday it will be free practice’s time with two 60’ sessions. Qualify 1 is set for Saturday at 10.45 and Race 1 will follow at 17.05 on the usual 25’ plus a lap distance. Sunday at 9 green light for Qualify 2 while Race 2 and Race 3 are set for 13.00 and 17.40. Both qualifying sessions as well as all three races will be live streamed on http://www.renaultsportitalia.it with live coverage on Tweeter at @flp_renault.
